What is the difference between a pure sine wave inverter and a modified sine wave inverter?

The output voltage of the pure sine wave inverter changes continuously and smoothly between the minimum value and the maximum value, reaching 0v in each half cycle.


On the contrary, the modified sine wave output voltage jumps almost instantaneously between the minimum value and the maximum value, and stays briefly at 0v.

Which should I use?

Because the harmonic wave of sine wave power supply is much less than that of modified sine wave power supply, the equipment usually operates more smoothly, more quietly and more efficiently.


For example, this difference is not always obvious in LED lighting applications, but will be more obvious in some fluorescent lamps.

These harmonics can sometimes cause interference to the TV picture.
