What is the difference between a pure sine wave inverter and a modified sine wave inverter?

The output voltage of the pure sine wave inverter changes continuously and smoothly between the minimum value and the maximum value, reaching 0v in each half cycle.

On the contrary, the modified sine wave output voltage jumps almost instantaneously between the minimum value and the maximum value, and stays briefly at 0v.

The electricity provided in the form of pure sine wave is very similar to the municipal electricity provided by most countries.

Which should I use?

Because the harmonic wave of sine wave power supply is much less than that of modified sine wave power supply, the equipment usually operates more smoothly, more quietly and more efficiently.

For example, this difference is not always obvious in LED lighting applications, but will be more obvious in some fluorescent lamps.

These harmonics can sometimes cause interference to the TV picture.

Any equipment with motor, such as washing machine, refrigerator, pump and fan, will usually make obvious noise when using modified sine wave power supply.

If you want to have a wider range of applications, pure sine wave inverter is the best choice. If you are only used to power lamps, televisions, computers and other electrical appliances, a modified sine wave inverter is sufficient.

Which equipment is not suitable for modified sine wave inverter?

Some examples of equipment that may not work properly with the modified sine wave inverter include but are not limited to: ceiling fan with speed control, fluorescent lamp, laser printer, copier, motor, washing machine, air conditioner, refrigerator, electric drill, etc.
